Website Redesign Prototype: Key Features, Design Decisions & Improvements

This new website prototype shows a complete redesign of the Edial Boarding Kennels & Cattery site. The goal of the redesign was to make the website more modern, more organised, and easier for users to read. The old website worked, but it had several issues such as messy text layout, outdated visuals, and unclear structure. The new version solves these problems by improving the colour theme, layout, text arrangement, and contact section.

The first and most noticeable improvement is the overall visual style. The old website used only one main colour: green. Because of this, everything looked flat and crowded together. There was little contrast, so the information blended into the background and became tiring to read. In the new design, the colour palette has changed completely. Now, the website uses soft beige, warm brown and cream tones. These colours feel welcoming and friendly, matching the concept of a pet care service. The new colours also help divide content more clearly so the user can focus on what matters.

Another big change is the layout and structure of information. In the old website, text was written in long blocks with almost no separation or hierarchy. Users had to scroll and search carefully to understand what services were offered. In the redesigned version, the website is divided into clear sections: Home, Grooming, Kennels, Cattery, Pricing, and Contact. Each section has its own space and is presented in a clean, simple format. The descriptions are shorter, easier to scan, and supported with images. This makes the information more direct and beginner-friendly for new visitors.

The new website also improves the user journey. The navigation bar is easy to find and understand, guiding users from page to page smoothly. People can now quickly check services, view galleries and find contact information within seconds. This creates a faster, more satisfying browsing experience compared to the old site, where users could feel lost or unsure where to start.

One of the most useful new features is the contact form. The old website only displayed phone numbers in the Home page and left the user responsible for contacting the business manually. In this prototype, the contact section is more organised. It has a form where customers can enter their details and send enquiries directly through the site. This is more convenient for users and increases the chance of successful bookings. Beside the form, the email, address, opening hours and business number are also placed neatly together so visitors no longer need to search for them.

The redesign also improves the kennel and cattery gallery. Previously, images looked unorganised and lacked structure. Now, photos are placed in a neat grid with rounded corners, making the page visually pleasant. Users can clearly see the pet spaces, outdoor areas, and indoor cages before making a decision. This builds trust and transparency because customers know what to expect.

Another detail that has been upgraded is the logo. The old logo looked outdated and did not match the new design direction. The new logo is simple, modern and visually cleaner. This helps create a stronger brand identity and makes the business appear more professional.

Overall, this prototype meets the goals of the redesign proposal. It makes content easier to read, improves visual layout, creates logical structure and gives users a more comfortable browsing experience. The website now looks fresh, friendly and trustworthy. The information stands out clearly, and visitors are guided smoothly from learning about services to getting in touch with the business. By improving layout, text hierarchy, colours and contact features, the new website successfully upgrades both design quality and usability.
