Progress

Using Adobe Animate's drawing tools, I started sketching the basic shapes of my mouse chef character. I focused on creating simple geometric shapes - circles for the head and body, ovals for the ears, and basic limb structures.

Reflection
Throughout this character design project, I gained valuable experience using Adobe Animate's drawing and layer management tools to create an animation-ready mouse chef character. The process taught me the importance of balancing simplicity with personality—using basic geometric shapes and chibi proportions made the character both appealing and practical for animation. One of the most significant lessons was understanding why proper layer separation is essential; organizing each body part (head, hat, body, limbs, and tail) into individual layers initially seemed tedious, but proved crucial for efficient animation workflow. Working with the Brush Tool and Paint Bucket Tool improved my digital illustration skills, and I learned how thoughtful color choices contribute to character appeal.
