1.1 Basic Composition.
- Focus point: Eye contact people prefer to make eye contact first,so do on a design.
- Scale & Hierarchy: Drawing attention toward and away from certain elements, control the flow to make people stop at the place we want.
- Balance the elements: Each element has a weight to it.it can be the size, texture, brightness or colour.
- White space=negative space: Distance between elements can boost design’s clarity and balance ,and helps design to breathe.

1.2 Rule of Thirds

It was a fun journey to follow the steps and explore the elements of the magazine, imagining how to use these elements to combine with each other and create creative artworks. I felt accomplished when the elements I selected came together and became a complete artwork that exceeded my expectations. I learned that while some elements have great shapes or color designs, we need to consider the composition of the entire artwork, such as balance and focal flow, as to whether they should be removed to make the artwork better. The progress and results of the collage work surprised me, which is why I enjoyed this journey so much.
