1.Lectures

Introduction to photoshop 2: Selection & layering

1.1 Layer interface


1.2 Tool box: Can expand the tools sets to reveal additional tools.

1.3 Marquee selection tools: select and mask (lasso tool & pen tool)



1.3.1 Lasso tool:
draw and pinpoint specific areas

  • Polygonal Lasso 
  • Magnetic Lasso

TIPS: Make sure the img is high quality so the lasso tools can trace image



1.3.2 Pen tool: draw and select,creating a path from scratch pic

Type:
  • Straight line paths
  • U shaped curves
  • Simple s curves
  • Complex s curves

Pentools: create extremely precise shapes and paths,not natively made as a “selection tool”

1.4 Layering

Advantage of using Layers
  • Can use layers for non-destructive editing. 
  • Adjustments in Photoshop will never destroy the original image. 
  • Contain all the extra information and/ or images you want to add to the original file.
  • Save a Photoshop file with all the layers included.

PROJECT 1B: DIGITAL COLLAGE

1. Download all of the images here to your computer:

2. Follow this tutorial demo as reference to create your digital collage:



3. Create 3 different composition digital collages from the images that you’ve downloaded.

4. Create A4 canvas size  (vertical) on Photoshop and start to do the compositions.

5. Take 3 photo of your digital collage compositions and insert it on the section below.

6. Submit (Turn In) this file on Google Classroom.

4.Reflection

By freely combining the various materials provided, and then using some arrangement rules such as the Golden Week to arrange them, many unexpected combination works can be created. While making collages, I became more and more proficient in using Photoshop, and began to understand the effects of various functions, allowing the works to continue to exert their own creativity on the basis of their own creativity, and realize their own creativity 100%.
